CDS at the historic Kilmainham Jail

Bridge Balustrade

When asked by the Office of Public Works Architects would we look an architectural metalwork package for Kilmainham Courthouse we didn’t need to consider it for too long. Getting the opportunity to show case our metalwork in such a iconic and historic location was just too tempting for us.
Anyhow, we were asked to supply a new bridge walkway with fin type balustrades along with handrails and guarding within the Court room to bring the existing timber structures inline with current building regulations and requirements.

Blackwash finish to metalwork

We fabricated the metal balustrades in our factory in Ballyfoyle and then we put them through a rigorous polishing process before treating them to our unique blackwash finish. This is can be seen by the brown / black sheen from the metalwork.

We manufactured and installed metal balustrades to the courtroom balconies. These were manufactured in a manner that would minimise the disruption to the existing timber structure while bringing them up to meet current building regulations.

Thanks to the Office of Public Works, PJ Hegarty & Sons and the fabricators and installer at CDS. This is another special one.
